Softness

A softness unexpected
A culture quite unknown
An expression unfamiliar
To a western boy home grown

An awakening of the spirit
A filling of the heart
A giddy healing laughter
From a winged cupid dart

A natural untamed feeling
That’s shared between two souls
A privacy that’s uncommon
Warm fluid fills all holes

A secret patch of darkness
To hide what must be sin
From the gossips that surround us
And the prying eyes of men

To reach for bounded ecstasy
That rises toward the sky
To grasp a common surety
As safe as apple pie

As words close in around us
And gives us hope to dream
A courage will enfold us
And create our own esteem
